Success Story – Sept – Ms. Soto

Ms. Soto is a long-term care resident here at Spanish Hills Wellness Suites and is on her way to returning to walking within the community after 5 years being wheelchair-bound. Through her dedication and participation with therapy, Ms. Soto was able to improve her strength. Several mobility aids were tried as solutions to assist Ms. Soto to walk safely in the community. None of these options were a good solution. Ms. Soto’s Physical Therapist then reached out to the attending physician as well as our local orthotics supplier. Through much collaboration with our local vendor, the therapy team, and the attending physician, Ms. Soto now has a custom made AFO. She is getting used to walking again with an orthotic and with continued practice, we believe Ms. Soto can return to taking safe outings in the community with family and friends at a modified independent level.
