Success Story – Sept – Ms. Soto

Ms. Soto is a long-term care resident here at Spanish Hills Wellness Suites and is on her way to returning to walking within the community after 5 years being wheelchair-bound. Ms. Soto’s Physical Therapist then reached out to the attending physician as well as our local orthotics supplier. Through much collaboration with our local vendor, the therapy team, and the attending physician, Ms. Soto now has a custom made AFO. She is getting used to walking again with an orthotic and with continued practice, we believe Ms. Soto can return to taking safe outings in the community with family and friends at a modified independent level.

Ann was admitted to Spanish Hills a year ago after suffering a stroke that impacted the right side of her body, leaving her unable to control her arm or leg. Unable to safely return home she became a long-term resident at the facility. George was admitted to Spanish Hills after ongoing complications with Covid. At arrival, he was bed bound and required substantial assistance for all daily tasks and was unable to eat or drink. Motivated to get down to the gym each day and interact with staff and other patients during his therapy sessions allowed him to make consistent progress. After nearly two months of dedication, he is now able to stand and walk independently, manage his selfcare routine, and eat some of his favorite foods again.
